About us

Wild Mushrooms Online began as a club for British foragers swapping finds, photographs and hard-won identification tips. It is the same thing today, rebuilt so the guide is quick to search and easy to keep up to date.

Everything here is written with the field in mind: what the mushroom looks like, when it appears, where it grows, and — most importantly — what dangerous species it can be confused with. The deadly ones come first, because learning those makes everything else calmer.

We run guided forages and identification days across the country, and members post what they find each week. Rough areas only: nobody is expected to give up their patch.
