A pasture mushroom with a dull buff cap and an unmistakable violet-blue stem.
Edible with caution. Must be cooked thoroughly. A few people are sensitive to blewits even when cooked.

September to December
Cortinarius species have rusty spores and a cobwebby veil. Check the pale pink print and the blue stem.
Excellent in cream sauces and pies. Freezes well once cooked.
Chlorophyllum olivieri
A shaggy parasol-like mushroom in coniferous woodland. Several similar species require careful separation.
Coprinopsis atramentaria
Edible in itself, but it causes a violent reaction with alcohol taken up to three days later.
Marasmius oreades
A small grassland mushroom that can form rings or arcs. Many unrelated mushrooms also form fairy rings.
